What Emface treats

EmFace applies two energies through adhesive pads placed on the forehead and cheeks. Synchronised radiofrequency heats the dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin, while HIFES, high-intensity facial electromagnetic stimulation, contracts the muscles that lift and support. Treating muscle is what makes it unusual, because almost every other facial treatment addresses skin or volume.

Before & After Results

After the fourth treatment

EmFace treats the muscles that hold the lower face as well as the skin over them, which is why the jaw border sharpens without filler. Image courtesy of BTL, courtesy of Lesley Clark-Loeser, M.D. Individual results may vary.

Submental fullness that is muscle and skin rather than fat responds here. Where it is mostly fat, Regents Park Aesthetics has a treatment designed for that too. Image courtesy of BTL, courtesy of Chris W. Robb, M.D. Individual results may vary.

Questions patients ask

Frequently asked questions

A needle-free device combining radiofrequency to stimulate collagen with electromagnetic stimulation that contracts the facial lifting muscles. Twenty minutes per session, four sessions.

Patients who would rather skip needles, and that is a large and happy group. It suits early to moderate laxity: a brow sitting lower than it did, cheeks losing lift, a jawline softening at the edges, and it works best from the late thirties through the fifties.

Where sagging is more significant, your clinician talks you through HIFU or a surgical opinion, so the plan you choose is the one that suits your face.

From £495 per session for one area, £595 for two and £695 for all three, with the course of four quoted at consultation.

You feel warmth and a rhythmic tugging as the muscles contract, curious for a minute and then relaxing. No numbing is needed.

None at all. Mild warmth for an hour and makeup goes straight back on.

Four, across two to four weeks. Keeping them close together gives the best effect. Maintenance is one or two sessions at six to twelve months.

The first fortnight lays the groundwork, with improvement from week four, peaking at around three months.

HIFU reaches the SMAS layer and produces a more substantial lift in a single session, also with no downtime. EmFace is milder and needle-free, treating muscle as well as skin. Patients comfortable with the sensation of HIFU usually see more from it.

Beautifully. EmFace lifts and tightens, while anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles that cause lines, so the two are commonly used together.

Yes. Neither radiofrequency nor electromagnetic stimulation targets pigment.

Yes, with a short gap. We leave two weeks either side because heat can affect recently placed filler.
