What Profhilo treats

Crepey & Lax Skin

Skin

Crepey & Lax Skin

What it was designed for: skin that has gone thin and slightly crepey, refreshed from within.

Dry & Dull Skin

Skin

Dry & Dull Skin

Hyaluronic acid at high concentration hydrates from within, which is what lifts a dull surface.

Neck Lines

Face

Neck Lines

The neck responds beautifully, because what it needs is better skin quality.

Menopause Skin

Menopause Skin

Treats the change in skin texture that arrives with hormonal change, without altering your shape.

Ageing Hands

Ageing Hands

One of the standard treatment areas, where thin skin shows before anywhere else.

Smoother, firmer skin, from within.

Profhilo improves the skin itself on the cheeks, the neck and the hands, and adds no volume.

Choose an area to explore

Cheeks

The skin on the cheeks that has gone thin and slightly crepey, where foundation sits in it rather than on it.

Neck

The same thinning on the neck, treated in the same way.

Back of the hands

Pinch the back of your hand and it takes a moment longer to flatten than it used to. Profhilo hydrates from within and stimulates the skin's own collagen.

Just beneath the skin: where Profhilo goes

Profhilo is placed just under the skin at set points on each side of the face, chosen because they suit the anatomy and because the product spreads from them. Over the following day it disperses evenly through the tissue.

How Profhilo Works, Step by Step

01 Day 0

Your skin, assessed closely

Your clinician looks closely at the skin itself: thickness, texture, laxity, hydration. Where volume is the concern, filler is the better match, and you plan it together.

What you feel or see A close look at the skin itself.

What to do Ask whether Profhilo, filler or polynucleotides fits your concern.

  2. Five injection points per side, each a small bleb under the skin. Numbing is not usually needed. The points are chosen because the product spreads well from them and they sit away from significant vessels, which helps your clinician plan the treatment carefully.

What you feel or see Brief stings. The blebs are visible when you leave.

What to do Nothing to plan around beyond the blebs for a day.

  3. The blebs disperse and flatten as the hyaluronic acid spreads through the tissue. Hydration improves within days.

What you feel or see Smooth again by the next day.

What to do Ordinary skincare can continue.

  4. The course is two sessions, and the second completes the result.

What you feel or see As before.

What to do Book it when you book the first.

  5. The collagen response builds and most patients notice the change around week six after the second session. The first fortnight is quiet while collagen gets to work, then the change arrives gradually and naturally.

What you feel or see Firmer, better hydrated skin.

What to do Photographs at week six in the same light as before.

  6. Results last around six months from completing the course, then fading gently and gradually. Most repeat the pair every six months.

What you feel or see A gentle, gradual return.

What to do Anti-wrinkle injections can run alongside, with two weeks between the two.

Choosing between treatments

Profhilo, filler or polynucleotides?

Some treatments do the same job a different way. Others do a different job alongside it. The right combination depends on your skin and what you are treating; a consultation settles it.

Questions patients ask

Frequently asked questions

An injectable made of highly concentrated hyaluronic acid that is not cross-linked. It spreads through the tissue rather than holding a shape, hydrating the skin and stimulating collagen and elastin production. It is a skin booster, a family of its own.

It is a skin booster, and the difference is worth knowing. Filler is cross-linked to hold shape in one place and adds volume. Profhilo stays fluid, disperses through the tissue and adds no volume at all. It improves skin quality without changing your face’s shape.

Yes. It is generally considered the original of that category, which is why the two terms are often used interchangeably.

Around six months after completing the two-session course. Most patients repeat it twice a year.

Hydration improves within days. The visible change in texture and firmness arrives between weeks four and six, after the second session. The change is gentle and gradual.

Most patients notice the change around week six, because the mechanism is collagen stimulation, which builds quietly and looks completely natural.

For skin quality, texture and hydration, yes, with good clinical evidence behind it. Volume and contour have their own treatments, filler and tightening devices, and many patients pair them with Profhilo.

It is wonderful for skin that has gone thin, dull or crepey. Hollowing and sagging have their own match in filler or a tightening device, and your clinician helps you choose at consultation. It is also one of the few injectables that changes nothing about your shape. Nobody looks at a Profhilo result and identifies what was done. They notice the skin looks well.

Ten injections, each brief. Most patients find it very manageable and numbing is not usually needed. The blebs feel firm for a few hours.

The small blebs at each injection point normally disperse within twenty four hours. Occasionally one is still faintly visible the next morning.

It has a strong safety record. Because it contains no cross-linking agents and is placed at ten standardised points away from major vessels, the risk profile is lower than most injectables.

Profhilo refreshes the quality of the skin over the jawline. Jowls themselves are about structure and volume, and Ultraformer HIFU, Morpheus8 or filler are the treatments for that. All three are available at our Wimpole Street clinic, and they pair well with Profhilo.

Indirectly. Better hydrated, firmer skin makes pores look less obvious. For pore size itself, microneedling or a resurfacing treatment targets it directly.

£320 for a single 2ml treatment, or £600 for the two-session course. We recommend the course, since the second session completes the result.

The two-session course, then a repeat every six months. Some patients maintain with a single session at the six month point instead.

A newer variant designed to work in the deeper fat layer rather than the skin, aimed at facial volume support. It behaves differently from standard Profhilo. Ask at consultation whether it is stocked and whether it suits you.

They are different treatments with different talents. Polynucleotides are derived from salmon DNA and work by cellular repair, and they often suit very thin, damaged or under-eye skin better. Profhilo is hyaluronic acid working through hydration and collagen stimulation.
